Chocolate Chunk Oat CookiesFeatured

These are my family’s absolute favourite.  I’ve been making them for years and it’s probably my most frequently requested recipe.  I think they are made by cooks all around the country these days.  They are very good.  They won’t sit around for long, but will keep in an airtight container for up to 10 days.

Ingredients

For 15 Person(s)

Chocolate Chunk Oat Cookies

  • 250 Grams Butter
  • 3 Tablespoons Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 3/4 Cp Sugar
  • 1 1/2 Cups Flour
  • 1 1/2 Cups Rolled Oats (I use wholegrain ones which aren’t so flattened and porridge like)
  • 1 Teaspoon Baking Power
  • 200 Grams Roughly chopped Chocolate, this can be light, dark or white

Chocolate Chunk Oat Cookies Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 170°C.  Line 2 oven trays with baking paper.
  2. Beat butter, condensed milk and sugar together until light and very pale and creamy.  Add flour, rolled oats, baking powder and chocolate chunks and mix well.  Flatten spoonfuls of the mixture onto the prepared trays.  Use a wet fork to press the mixture down.  Cook for 18 – 20 minutes until golden brown.  Cool on a wire rack and store in an airtight container.

Recipe notes

You can vary this recipe very simply – substitute dried fruit for the chocolate; substitute nuts; use a mixture of dark milk and white chocolate or; fruit & nut chocolate.
